![]() ![]() That isn’t Allen, who is more of a traditional big stuck inside. Most of the league’s top centers - Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Karl Anthony-Towns - are efficient playing in space and operating on the perimeter. But I would consider moving Allen for two reasons: They don’t really have any other trade commodities ( Darius Garland and Evan Mobley are close to untouchable) and I wonder if the Cavs can have a high level of postseason success with two bigs clogging the paint offensively. I don’t believe Allen should be traded based off his poor play against Mitchell Robinson and the Knicks. “No sweeping changes” also means bringing back Jarrett Allen. The riskier decision is choosing to forge ahead with this defensive-minded style of play. His bench consisted of Hamburger Helper and spoiled milk and he was told to go bake a cake. If we’re being fair and reasonable, his grade can’t be much more than an incomplete given the roster deficiencies. He insisted on multiple occasions there won’t be any sweeping changes and I largely agree with him. To that end, Altman is staying the course on this. Youth and inexperience are no longer viable excuses. They don’t have to win or even play for a title every year, but another first-round exit next season is unacceptable for a variety of reasons. When the Cavs were winning 60-plus games during the regular season yet failing to reach the NBA Finals a decade ago, Dan Gilbert called those teams a disappointment. ![]() Consider this the Cavs’ one and only regular-season banner with this group.
